Day 1 (Milan)

Saluti de Malin!! After another long day of traveling, we have finally settled into our hotel, Leonardo Da Vinci, in Erba, Italy!  We arrived in Milan, Italy, at 12pm (6am US time) and were greeted by our Italian tour guide, Fabio! And so the adventure began! We started our tour of Milan at the city center! Everyone was in awe and fascination of the amazing architecture that surrounded us. Our first stop was the Sforza Castle where we were greeted by another local tour guide. This unique style castle was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, the Duke of Milan.  After the Sforza Castle, we walked to the Quadrilatero d'Oro (Golden Quadrilateral).  Globally known for being the capital of design and fashion, it not only connects four of the adjoining streets in Milan but also connects three of the commonly known monuments in the city.  Among these monuments was the Tetro alla Scala, the world-renowned opera house, Duomo di Milano cathedral, the third largest Catholic Church in Europe, and the Sforza Castle.  During our free time following the tour, some SFU players were given the chance to explore Milan at their leisure. Some of the girls took right to shopping, while some were attracted the gelato, and others decided to see the inside of the Duomo di Milano cathedral.  After our free time, we departed for our hotel, jetlag hitting us hard and leaving us ready for a bus time nap! Our first Italian dinner was at the hotel where we were introduced the Italian lasagna, chicken, and potatoes!  Our feast wasn't over though until we had delicious lemon cake with pineapple pudding filling, topped with fresh fruit!  With a full stomach, SFU is ready for a good nights sleep! That 7:45am wake-up call will come soon enough, and another day of adventure will begin! For now, "buonanotte!"
